Enhancing durability & extending the life
of the structure

Steel corrosion costs the UK economy billions of pounds each year and is a leading cause of building and structural deterioration. Over the past 70 years, CRL has developed a comprehensive range of corrosion control techniques to combat steel deterioration, extending asset life and reducing long-term maintenance costs.

Steel in concrete is particularly vulnerable to chloride-induced corrosion, common in marine environments and regions where de-icing salts are used. In steel-framed buildings with masonry or stone cladding, façade cracks or poor rainwater management can accelerate corrosion, often leading to cladding failure, a phenomenon known as "Regent Street Disease."

Proactive corrosion management is essential to protect structural integrity, prevent costly repairs, and maintain the safety and usability of assets.
