CRL delivered specialist concrete repair and refurbishment works on the Grade II-listed Cleveland Bridge in Bath, a critical route connecting the M4 to the south coast. Originally built in 1826 for horse-drawn carriages, the bridge now carries up to 17,000 vehicles daily, including heavy goods vehicles.
The project involved extensive concrete repairs, installation of galvanic and hybrid anodes, carbon-fibre strengthening, and protective coatings, while carefully preserving the bridge’s historic fabric. CRL’s phased repair plan, bespoke access solutions, and innovative structural techniques ensured that the bridge remains safe, functional, and protected for the future, while addressing unforeseen corrosion challenges along the trusses.
