CRL - a trusted partner in the refurbishment of water & wastewater assets
CRL operate across the whole of the UK providing asset maintenance services for all the Water Companies to ensure drinking water standards are maintained and waste water safely treated.
As part of our core services as Principal Contractors, we undertake the inspection, maintenance, refurbishment and cleaning of concrete, steel and masonry structures in the water and waste water sectors. Since 1955, we have developed unparalleled expertise in the maintenance of assets such as water towers, reservoirs, filter beds, settlement tanks, contact tanks, distribution chambers, storm tanks, surge vessels and clarifiers.
The range of service we offer in this sector varies from basic cleaning and disinfection to more extensive works such as roof waterproofing, application of protective coatings, resin injection, overbanding, tank lining, pipework renewal, installation of sample lines, condition survey & material testing, removal and reinstatement of overburden, concrete & masonry repairs and other ancillary works.
CRL operate in a variety of different sectors requiring refurbishment of existing assets such as highways, marine, rail, heritage, nuclear & power and car parks. This multi-sectoral expertise, and our experience working in Australia, enables us to import new techniques and materials into the water and waste water sector, thereby optimising solutions for our clients, resulting in efficiencies and robust technical deliveries.
We currently hold framework agreements with several UK Water Companies for the refurbishment works to their concrete, steel and masonary structures, both in the clean and wastewater sectors. In addition to our framework contracts, we also work with various other water companies on one-off projects, offering bespoke solutions through our innovative approach and smarter low carbon delivery model.
Our staff are fully trained in sector-specific requirements such as Confined Space Entry and Rescue and EUSR Water Hygiene, in addition to wider construction training such as NVQs, CSCS, CPCS, SMSTS, SSSTS, SEATS, First Aid, Asbestos Awareness and Product Training.

“Now that the final phase of these works is completed we are confident that, thanks to the specialist advice and quality workmanship we received from CRL, the life of both towers has been extended by some 25 years and they will continue to operate safely and efficiently to provide clean, high quality potable water to the local community for a long time to come.”
