Our Heritage

Generations
Caring for listed buildings and historic structures requires expert management, skilled trades, and a sympathetic approach that respects the Principles of Conservation. Many of these buildings are complex and unique, presenting a variety of challenges that must be carefully addressed during refurbishment.
CRL specialises in surveying and repairing historic, period, and modern concrete buildings, as well as designing and installing cathodic protection systems for steel-framed structures. We operate as both Principal Contractor and specialist subcontractor, ensuring a tailored approach for every project.
Conservation and restoration work can be more demanding than new construction. Working within occupied offices, churches, schools, and other premises requires innovative problem-solving and extensive experience. At CRL, our mission is to safeguard the nation’s heritage by combining the expertise of our directly employed managers and skilled operatives with a trusted network of specialist contractors. Where needed, we collaborate with select artisans, including lead workers, guilders, roofers, and fibrous plasterers, to deliver exceptional results.CRL Restoration has successfully worked on a wide range of sites, including ancient monuments, castles, churches, palaces, ruins, stately homes, and modern structures.

CRL provide a comprehensive, one-stop solution for caring for heritage concrete buildings and structures. Working closely with our clients, we first assess the condition of the building using our UKAS-accredited survey company, CRL Surveys Ltd. Once deterioration is identified, we produce fully documented reports with assessments, recommendations, specifications, and initial budget estimates.
Our in-house teams then execute the works according to the agreed specification, collaborating with all stakeholders to value-engineer solutions and ensure client expectations are met. CRL has extensive experience liaising with Heritage and Conservation Bodies, as well as Local Authorities, to deliver compliant, high-quality outcomes on listed buildings.
Each project is managed by a dedicated, experienced team and supported by our Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality experts to ensure smooth and safe delivery.
At CRL Restoration, we are committed to sympathetic conservation. Using 70 years of industry experience, we select materials and repair techniques that minimise intervention while preventing further deterioration, extending the lifespan of the structure. Our goal is always to exceed client expectations by completing projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

“CRL have been very proactive and positive in addressing Client queries and requests for additional work. The contract was awarded via a competitive tender and CRL have provided good value throughout”
