Mental Health

It is no secret that construction industry workers are more likely to suffer from poor mental health than in many other sectors. As an employer, we can help to reduce many of the stresses that lead to poor mental health within our workforce.

Our Health and Wellbeing Policy highlights the importance of caring for our colleagues' health and wellbeing and sets out our plans to ensure everyone receives the support they need. Our policy seeks to bring existing staff wellbeing issues to the fore, whilst creating an organisational culture where stigma is eradicated and negative wellbeing issues are identified, minimised and managed before they affect the wellbeing of colleagues.

CRL has a variety of initiatives in place to promote good mental health including;

    • a number of Mental Health First Aiders across the company who are trained to respond to the needs of any colleague experiencing mental health problem,
    • ensuring that all our employees and their families have free access to the Health Assured Employee Assistance Programme. Health Assured is an independent health and wellbeing provider that offers support for a range of health and wellbeing issues, and
    • signing up and supporting the Building Mental Health Charter.

We support and promote initiatives such as ASK TWICE and TAKE 10 TOGETHER to help our colleagues support each other, as well as The Lighthouse Club, the construction industry wellbeing charity.
