CRL recently hosted a dynamic Trade Skills Taster Day at its Mitcham facility, organized in collaboration with Fosroc, Vi Industrial Supplies, and YouthBuild UK. The event was designed to provide students from Youth Build with hands-on experience in a variety of construction trade skills, as well as insights into career opportunities within CRL and the wider construction industry.

The day kicked off with a warm welcome and refreshments, followed by a tour of CRL’s facilities and an introduction to health and safety in construction, led by Nigel Roper. Throughout the day, students engaged in a series of trade skills sessions focused on key construction techniques such as hand-placed repairs, flowable grouting, fairing coat applications, resin injection, Lokfix, and deck membrane installations.

In addition to the practical workshops, participants were introduced to the work of Fosroc, explored various career paths within construction, and learned about CRL’s training and development programs through presentations by Steve Jones and Keysha Parker.

The event concluded with a reflection on the skills learned and the career opportunities available to the students, leaving them inspired and informed about their future prospects.

This initiative highlights CRL's commitment to supporting young talent and fostering career development in the construction industry, marking the first of many such partnerships with Youth Build. Special thanks to Fosroc and Vi Industrial Supplies for their invaluable support.
