Friday 24th September saw Concrete Repairs Limited take on Fortem Solutions Limited in an 11-a-side charity football match at the Staveley Miners Welfare Club. Although CRL were closely beaten in a 16-goal thriller by a good Fortem side, there was much to be proud of for CRL who put in a solid performance and helped raise money for two fantastic charities.
Each team picked a charity to support – Fortem chose Mind, while CRL opted for CRASH – and proceeds will be split. The money raised by CRL and Fortem will help Mind provide support to people experiencing a mental health problem, as well as campaigning to improve services, and raising awareness. Our efforts will also go a long way in supporting CRASH to help homeless charities and hospices with vital construction projects.
A huge thank you must go to all the players who travelled from across the region to represent CRL and generously made donations and collected sponsorships. Without them, we would not have been able to raise so much money for our charities and have a great afternoon in the process.
We are very grateful to VI Distribution who generously supplied us with free football shirts and a full goalkeeper kit complete with printed CRL logos. These looked great and will be used for any future matches.
Last but not least, a big thank you to Fortem for their help in organising the match, their fundraising efforts and playing some great football. We will have to get some practice in before the rematch!
