CRL Wins Multiple Prestigious Awards for Excellence in Structural and Civil Engineering

Structural Awards by IStructE

The IStructE Structural Awards represent the pinnacle of recognition for structural engineering excellence, with a strong emphasis on sustainability. This year’s winners showcased groundbreaking achievements in innovative design, sustainable solutions, and projects that deliver meaningful social impact.

CRL (as the Principal Contractor) was proud to have been shortlisted for the Grade A listed Gala Fairydean Rovers Netherdale Stand project. A meticulous survey and materials testing regime prior to the contract works, confirmed the building’s structural integrity, allowing for a precise and efficient repair strategy. The judges commended the team’s use of advanced techniques such as bespoke repair mortars and in-situ casting to ensure both durability and that the repairs seamlessly matched the original structure.

The project also addressed long-standing design challenges, incorporating a modern rainwater management system with a protective membrane and improved drainage. This innovative solution not only resolved persistent issues but also set a benchmark for maintaining reinforced concrete structures. The success of this project underscores CRL’s commitment to sustainable practices and engineering ingenuity, paving the way for similar future repair and restoration works.

CECA (North East) Awards

CRL received this prestigious Subcontractor of the Year Award from the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (North East) in recognition of the outstanding works carried out on the Tees Viaduct Substructure Refurbishment (TVSR) project. The A19 Tees Viaduct, a critical six-lane dual carriageway spanning 1.9 km over the River Tees and several transport corridors, is a vital part of the region’s infrastructure, and maintaining it is vital to ensuring that traffic is allowed to flow freely.

This large-scale and technically demanding project, the largest bridge repair works undertaken by CRL outside the National Highways Framework, demonstrated our expertise in concrete repairs and cathodic protection. The successful delivery of the project highlights CRL’s ability to execute complex engineering solutions that enhance the resilience and longevity of vital infrastructure.

South Western Community Awards

Concrete Repairs Limited (CRL) was honoured to be awarded two prestigious accolades at the South Western Community Awards, highlighting our commitment to collaborative excellence and infrastructure improvement.

CRL, as part of the team, received the Highly Commended Award for our exceptional work on the M5 Almondsbury Interchange/Patchway Project. Located in South Gloucestershire, the Almondsbury Interchange is one of the UK’s largest and most complex motorway stack interchanges, spanning 1 km². It connects the M5 at Junction 15 with the M4 at Junction 20 and serves as a critical link to Almondsbury village, the Aztec West industrial estate, and Bradley Stoke.

This recognition celebrates the seamless collaboration between CRL and our project partners, including National Highways, Metrail, Wilson Scott, Martin Traffic Management, Aggregate Industries, Taylor Woodrow, and WSP. Together, the team delivered a challenging project with precision, teamwork, and a shared commitment to enhancing one of the UK’s most vital transportation hubs.

CRL, as part of the team, was also awarded Winner in the Collaborative Project of the Year category for the A30 Avers Junction Project. This grade-separated roundabout, located north of Redruth, connects the A30 and A3047 and plays a vital role as a main access point to Redruth. Originally constructed as part of the Camborne-Redruth Bypass in 1976, the refurbishment of this junction demanded careful attention and coordination to improve its functionality and longevity.

CRL collaborated with a highly skilled team, including National Highways, Chevron, Metrail, WJ, Network Plus, Heidelberg, Amey, and Taylor Woodrow, to deliver a project that exemplifies the best in technical expertise and community impact.

These awards reflect CRL’s unwavering commitment to teamwork, technical innovation, and delivering innovative solutions that meet the highest standards. We are proud to have worked alongside our esteemed project collaborators to enhance these critical transportation links, ensuring long-term benefits for the communities they serve.
